After being Vegetarian for fifteen-plus years; I now know that my healthy eating lead me to a lifestyle of meditation and yoga, which in turn makes my life blissful.
A healthy life is very important when you are living the lifestyle of an artist. In the Entertainment Industry a lot is based on how you look; some people think that is a negative and the majority of people believe that it is positive; however you believe, it's just simply important to be healthy and fit, not just for the sake of your career but also for the longevity of your life so that you will be able to enjoy your career to the fullest.
You Are What You Eat
I have heard this saying ever since I was in middle school, learning about the food pyramid.Even though our school lunch was the worst food a human could eat; at least the School District was decent enough to teach us about what healthy food was. If I am what I eat; I wouldn't mind being a fresh raw broccoli stalk, green, healthy, and full of nutritional enzymes.
To start eating healthy after years of eating excessive amount of meat and processed food, is definitely a challenge that I faced at the yearly age of fifteen. Even though the transition was hard, overall, I had my family supporting me. My mom started cooking healthier meals for me, in return she started eating healthy herself, my oldest brother started transitioning into a more leaner, vegetarian diet until eventually he became vegan; he took it to a whole new level of clean eating; passing me up in a way. Even though it's challenging, the reward is greater, and the growth you feel physically, mentally, and spiritually, is the greatest outcome that you will experience in life.
Dare To Be Different
I'm usually the only vegetarian in the group which could be uncomfortable for some people, because when everyone wants to go to a restaurant that is majority carnivore friendly and you have to be the odd ball, asking "Can we go to a vegetarian friendly restaurant?" You start to question how you are socially affecting your peers. You must look at the positive aspect of being the odd ball; the overall big picture is that everyone will have the chance to eat a healthier meal and I can assure you that the die heart carnivores in the room will definitely find a dish that they will love and devour, then forget that they didn't have meat with their meal, and you just planted a positive seed with your friends or family.
Cooking is Key
Cooking is a vital skill that everyone should learn, if they haven't already. Teach your children how to cook at a young age, they really do love it!
When I was a young adolescent, backing cakes was my hobby, I had gotten so great at backing cakes, that I had become the cake backer for all of my family events; come to think about it, I cannot remember when I was demoted from that position, and now I have to test my baking skills again because it's been so long since I baked a cake. Cooking my own meals as mush as possible, keeps me at a tolerable weight (even though I'm not pleased with my current weight; I'm still carrying around my Birthday weight from binging out during my vacation). Cooking is time consuming, and I find myself spending more time cooking than it takes me to eat the food because everything I cook is so amazingly delicious! I know that since I'm in the Entertainment business, the more opportunities that come my way the less time I will have to cook my own food, so in the process of building my team, the personal chef has to be included in the equation.
